Charles Rennie Mackintosh is celebrated worldwide as one of the most creative and individual architect designers of the turn of
the Century alongside Louis Sullivan, Antoni Gaudi, Frank Lloyd Wright and Victor Horta. The individuality and spiritual intensity
of Mackintosh's masterpiece building and interiors influenced 20th century architecture and continue to be an inspiration today.

The Hill House is Mackintosh's most complete, authentic and significant example of domestic architecture. It was built for Walter Blackie (the publisher).
The reserved design of a traditional harled building dramatically contrasts with the red sandstone and elaborate detailing of the surrounding imposing
villas, commissioned by other wealthy Glasgow entrepeneurs. Hints of lightness and richness of the interiors where Mackintosh demonstrated his belief
in the total room as a unified work of art deliberately contrast with the building exterior.
